SOCAN’s 2021 Board of Directors self-nomination process is now open. SOCAN members who received royalties in the 2020 calendar year are eligible to run for a Director position on the SOCAN Board of Directors by filling out a self-nomination form and obtaining a minimum of 25 signatures from SOCAN members who are eligible to vote in the 2021 election. A writer must be nominated by 25 eligible writer members, and a publisher must be nominated by 25 eligible publisher members. The process closes on Feb. 15, 2021.

Do your part to create a bright future for SOCAN writers, composers and publishers. The SOCAN Board of Directors is comprised exclusively of SOCAN members. They’re elected by, and accountable to, its members. The Board is responsible for working with the SOCAN leadership team to set and manage the strategic plan for the company, approving budgets, and working with the CEO to develop, implement, and monitor policy that allows SOCAN to carry out its work.

SOCAN members who received performing rights royalties in the 2020 calendar year will be able to cast their votes and elect the Board of Directors for the 2021-2024 term. Voting begins in April of 2021. Eligible voters can only vote by logging into their SOCAN online Account. The Board of Directors for the 2021-2024 term will be announced at SOCAN’s 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
