This year, SOCAN took part in the FCVQ at the Morrin Centre, a historic building that once served as both a prison and later as a university. You can’t make stuff like that up!.

First on the agenda was a music supervision workshop led by Fair Enough’s Marie-Laurence Asselin. The Montréal-based agency’s recent projects include the feature film Deux femmes en or and the series FEM.

The session with Marie-Laurence Asselin helped build bridges between music and film while also demystifying the rights-clearance process for musical works and songs. There’s no doubt that the directors, producers and composers who attended are now better equipped to develop the soundtracks for their projects.

This activity, part of the professional program, was presented in collaboration with SOCAN, APEM, Phoque OFF and the FCVQ.

Next, members of the SOCAN team took part in the industry networking reception, also held at the Morrin Centre, another opportunity to make connections.
