The Trews have earned a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award for “The Breakdown,” which topped the Mediabase Canada Active Rock Chart on April 28, 2025.
The two brothers in The Trews, Colin and John-Angus MacDonald, and the two brothers in The Glorious Sons, Brett and Jay Emmons, co-wrote “The Breakdown” – along with The Trews bandmembers Jack Syperek and Chris Gormley, and non-performing songwriter Chris Kirby. The song is published by BMG Rights Management Canada.
SOCAN’s Racquel Villagante presented the award plaque to the MacDonald brothers and the Emmons brothers during the JUNO Awards weekend, at SOCAN HQ in the Hamilton Sheraton hotel, on Friday, March 27, 2026.
