The SOCAN Foundation has launched a new national award in celebration and recognition of emerging South Asian music creators. The South Asian Music Prize, worth $10,000, and presented by SiriusXM Dhamaka, aims to support the dynamic voices and excellent artists helping shape Canada’s diverse musical landscape.
Submissions are open until June 1, 2026. Full details and guidelines are available here. The $10,000 prize will be awarded to one recipient after selection by a jury of music industry professionals.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, SOCAN members, and identify as South Asian. Submissions are open to music creators (songwriters, composers, and collectives who meet eligibility requirements).
The inaugural prize will be announced later this year. Learn more on the SOCAN Foundation website.
