SOCAN has spent the summer of 2025 regularly meeting with our members; connecting them with each other, and with industry representatives; and celebrating milestones – in cities outside of our usual routine: New York, Calgary, and Saskatoon.
SOCAN thanks all of our members and industry friends who joined us in New York City, on June 11, to honour two incredible milestones: 100 years of SOCAN and 50 years of the CMRRA (The Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency). The “Milestone Mixer” offered a true celebration of creativity, community, and the power of music across borders – especially welcome in our current era of Canada-U.S. relations. SOCAN offers a heartfelt Thank You to the Consulate General of Canada in New York for graciously hosting us. Here’s to the next century of Canadian music excellence!
On July 8, SOCAN hosted our very first Connection Mixer in Calgary, right in the heart of Stampede season. It was an opportunity to connect, listen, and amplify the creativity of this vibrant artistic populace. Meeting so many incredible music-makers reminded us how important it is for SOCAN to be present and involved in their journeys, every step of the way. We’ll be back.
In Saskatoon, we gathered on Aug. 8 for a night of real connection, welcoming music ecosystem professionals, songwriters, recording artists, composers, and other music-makers, who came together to share stories, ideas, and build co-operation and kinship. Moments like these reminded us why being on the ground in cities like Saskatoon, and supporting the progress of members there, matters so much.
