Both the public and a jury of industry professionals will vote in equal shares to determine the semi-finalists (April 13, 14, and 15), and the ultimate winner, crowned at the grand finale on May 11 at Club Soda. At stake are the $15,000 SiriusXM Award; the Andréanne-Sasseville Awards (2 x $5,000); SODEC prizes totalling $15,000; as well as a $500 honorarium awarded to each participant.
Stéphanie Boulay and Ariane Roy are the spokespersons for the 30th edition, and will perform at the grand finale.
SOCAN, a committed partner to emerging talent
Beyond the stage, Les Francouvertes remain a strategic meeting point for emerging artists and the music industry. As a committed partner, SOCAN plays an active role in this professional development. We support the Rencontre Pro on April 23 at Maison de la culture Maisonneuve, a strategic day where emerging artists and key industry stakeholders exchange information on the realities of the profession, business models, and growth opportunities. The day will conclude with a free performance by VioleTT Pi and special guests. SOCAN will also present the Paroles & Musique Award, recognizing excellence in songwriting and composition among the semi-finalists.
30 years of history, looking ahead
To mark their anniversary, Les Francouvertes are launching a complete re-design of their website, including exclusive archives tracing three decades of musical discovery. The “J’aime mes ex” series will return to open the evenings, bringing together several former participants, including Sensei H, Les Louanges, Polémil Bazar, and Étienne Coppée. All evenings will be streamed online free of charge (without voting privileges). Tickets that include voting rights are available via Lepointdevente.com.
Finally, to ensure the event’s long-term sustainability, Les Francouvertes are launching a crowdfunding campaign with a goal of raising $30,000. The public, and friends of Les Francouvertes, are invited to lend their support; every contribution goes directly toward the event, enabling it to continue its mission and shine a spotlight on homegrown music. A wide range of rewards (including concert tickets and more) are already available at https://laruchequebec.com/francouvertes30e
