For the first time, SOCAN held its KENEKT songwriting camp – presented by Desjardins, June 17-19, 2025 – as part of the Francos de Montréal. The event took place at Planet Studio, and gathered a selection of local and international Francophone artists.
For three days, songwriters, composers, performers, and producers joined forces to create one song per day, switching up the teams daily. This format allowed participants to multiply their connections, explore new creative approaches, and build lasting relationships with fellow creators, both from here and abroad.
The camp welcomed artists from Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean; established Québec creators looking to expand internationally; as well as emerging talents chosen through a call for submissions. Everyone left with a broader network of connections, brand-new collaborations, and songs ready to shine.
In the video feature below, Pier-Luc Rioux, Samant, Katrine Sansregret, and Yellowstrap share their experiences, and tell us about the very real benefits of participating in a KENEKT songwriting camp.

This first partnership between the Francos, SOCAN, and Desjardins perfectly illustrates a shared commitment to supporting Francophone music creation, and investing in the talent and ambition of artists. To mark its 125th anniversary, Desjardins demonstrated its commitment by offering participants a unique springboard, at the intersection of local and international music scenes.
