Non-performing songwriter and SOCAN member Tobias Jesso Jr. – who won the inaugural Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical, honour at the 2023 Grammy Awards – is nominated once again in that category, one of six  nominations he’s received for the 2026 edition of the 2026 Grammy Awards. Jesso Jr. is also listed for his work on Justin Bieber’s SWAG, nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, as well as Bieber’s “Daisies,” nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance. The songwriter worked as well on SABLE, fABLE by Bon Iver and I quit by Haim, both nominated for Best Alternative Music Album.

Songwriter, producer, recording artist, DJ, and SOCAN member Kaytranada, who won two Grammy Awards in 2021, has earned another three nominations in the 2026 edition of the honours. He produced and remixed “SPACE INVADER,” which earned a nod for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, while “Don’t Forget About Us” received recognition for Mariah Carey and Kaytranada in the Best Remixed Recording category. The song “Open Invite,” by Teyana Taylor featuring Kaytranada, is included on Escape Room, which is nominated for Best R&B Album.

Instrumental music composer, producer, flute player, and SOCAN member Ron Korb played on and co-produced Sounds of Kumbha by Siddhant Bhatia, nominated for Best Global Music Album. He also played on Shayan by Charu Suri, which got the nod in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category.

The song “Folded” by Kehlani, nominated for both Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance, was co-produced by SOCAN member Don Mills.

The Best R&B Album 2026 Grammy nominee Why Not More?, by Coco Jones, has been a boon to SOCAN members, three of whom were involved in creating its songs: Sara Diamond has already earned a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award for co-writing Jones’s “Here We Go (Uh Oh)”; Tally Margulies (aka Tally Bad) is  credited on the song “Forever Don’t Hit Like Before”; and JEIA, who attended our 2025 SOCAN Kenekt Pender Island Song Camp, produced the song “Passport.”

The credits for another LP nominated for 2026 Best R&B Album, BELOVED, by GIVĒON, include five SOCAN members. Aaron Paris contributed to “Mud”; frequent Daniel Caesar collaborator Matthew Burnett contributed to  “Mud,” “Rather Be,” “Twenties,” “Strangers,” “Numb,” “I Can Tell,” “Keeper,” “Backup Plan,” “Don’t Leave,” and “Avalanche”; Sevn Thomas contributed to all of those songs, as well as

“Diamonds for Your Pain,” “Six:Thirty,” “Bleeding,” and “Good Bad Ugly”; Maneesh Bidaye contributed to “Rather Be,” “Twenties,” and “Avalanche”; Adam Feeney (aka Frank Dukes) contributed to “Six:Thirty.”

Another category that’s been kind to SOCAN members is Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media, which has seen Jenna Andrews nominated for her contributions to the soundtrack of the massive KPop Demon Hunters series on Netflix, and Peter Dreimanis (of July Talk), for his musical work on the hit movie Sinners. Kemy Siala contributed to the nominated soundtrack album for  F1® The Movie, and to the aforementioned R&B Album nominee, BELOVED, by GIVĒON.

SOCAN Creative Executive Jeffrey “Lord Quest” Nuamah – who’s also a  beat-maker, producer, songwriter, and SOCAN member – is credited on the song “Too Late,” by Jesse Royal, recorded with another SOCAN member, Melanie Fiona, and included on No Place Like Home, nominated for Best Reggae Album.

SOCAN member Joni Mitchell has earned the nod for  Best Historical Album, for Joni Mitchell Archives – Volume 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980). Both PartyNextDoor and Drake and have been nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance, for their song “Somebody Loves Me.” Longtime jazz singer-songwriter Laila Biali has earned her first Grammy nomination, in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album field, for Wintersongs. Spiritbox are in the running for Best Metal Performance, honouring their song “Soft Spine,” while Alexander Castillo Vasquez contributed to the song “Besame” to the album ¿Y ahora qué?, by Alejandro Sanz, nominated for Best Latin Pop Album.

Justin Gray has been given the 2026 Grammy nod for Best Immersive Audio Album, for Immersed, co-produced by his colleague SOCAN member, Drew Jurecka. Martha Wainwright is featured on the song “Fly Under,” included on the LP Nomadica, by Carla Patullo featuring The Scorchio Quartet & Tonality, which is nominated for Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album. In the Best Classical Compendium field, producer Jonathan Estabrooks contributed to nominated LP The Dunbar/Moore Sessions, Vol. II, by Will Liverman. John Nathaniel was a mixing engineer on the song” Find The Love,” on The Gift of Love, by Jennifer Hudson, nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Kevin Ekofo contributed to Reconstruction, by Lecrae, which earned the nod for Best Contemporary Christian Album. And Mary Dawood Catlin contributed to Hope Orchestrated, by the Venezuela Strings Recording Ensemble, Jesús David Medina & Raniero Palm, conductors, nominated for Best Classical Instrumental Solo.

Two songs by SOCAN member The Weeknd are included in Henry “Cirkut” Walter’s nomination for Producer of The Year, Non-Classical: “Big Sleep” by The Weeknd featuring Giorgio Moroder, and his own “Red Terror.” In the same category, the nomination of Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) includes SOCAN member Jeremie Albino’s song, “Our Time In The Sun.” Similarly, the Josh Ross song “Leave Me Too” is included in non-performing songwriter Laura Veltz’s nomination for Songwriter of The Year (Non-Classical), as is Lauren Spencer-Smith’s song “Parallel Universe.”

Other Canadian (but non-SOCAN) nominees include Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, Québécois conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and much-nominated mixing engineer Serban Ghenea.
