As part of its 100th Anniversary, SOCAN has launched Music Creator Day, which will take place every year on November 7. This day is meant to celebrate Canadian music and the talent of the songwriters and composers behind it.
A new survey conducted by Pollara on behalf of SOCAN reveals that Canadians view music creation as an essential part of our culture. Among other findings, the survey shows that 77% of Canadians believe that homegrown music helps define our shared culture – a sentiment especially strong in Québec, where 83% of respondents agree.
During our coverage of the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ on Nov. 5, 2027, we asked a few Félix Award wines, “What role do music creators play in our society?” Here’s what Klô Pelgag, Pierre Lapointe, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Lumière (Bon Enfant), Shah Frank, Pierre Kwenders, Viviane Audet, Guillaume Chiasson (Bon Enfant), thaïs, Ramon Chicharron, and Stéphane Lafleur (Avec pas d’casque) had to say.
