As part of our commitment to the ongoing transformation of our business, Annita Lala has been appointed as SOCAN’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Annita will be responsible for evolving operations at SOCAN, and executing the company’s strategy to improve the member experience – by aligning operations, technology, data and analytics, product design, and project delivery.

Annita first joined SOCAN as a consultant in 2018, conducting management advisory sessions and workshops, where she helped to analyze our work practices, assess challenges, identify objectives, and methods to improve. She then became our first Chief Transformational Officer, on contract, in 2021, and using all the information collected as a consultant, worked to help SOCAN navigate complex challenges and create business efficiencies.

Now, as our Chief Operating Officer, she’ll align our operational focus to optimize member service. SOCAN will benefit from her experience in change management, and leadership of cross-functional teams, and her work will be crucial in finding efficiencies, improving collaboration, and streamlining member processes, to ultimately achieve better results for our members.

Annita has more than two decades of experience leading significant business transformation initiatives in a variety of public and private organizations in the financial, telecommunications, security, government, and not-for-profit sectors. She has a proven track record of successfully executing complex programs to deliver on strategic imperatives. Her core expertise is in leading business transformation and change initiatives, and her entrepreneurial nature, business acumen, and common-sense approach ensure that she facilitates practical, value-driven solutions. Annita holds a Master of Arts degree in Translation (French/English) and is PMP-certified for project management.

“With Annita’s extensive experience in leading business transformation and large-scale change initiatives, she’s the ideal fit as our COO,” said SOCAN CEO Jennifer Brown. “Her expertise will be instrumental in driving the successful delivery of our core business strategy, and influencing positive changes throughout our organization, focusing on better outcomes for our members. I’m excited to have Annita on board as COO, building on a strong leadership team and strengthening our commitment to members through operational excellence.”

“I’m very excited in my new role as part of the SOCAN team,” said Annita. “I look forward to collaborating with teams across the organization to help drive meaningful changes for our members and our employees.”
