The 30th Francouvertes final will take place on May 11 at Club Soda in Montréal, as well as online. Here are the three finalists whose projects are well worth discovering, regardless of the outcome of the competition, which SOCAN proudly supports as a partner.
Fyore
Also recognized with the Paroles & Musique Award presented by SOCAN during the ultimate semi-final showcase, Fyore stands out from the other finalists with her offbeat rhythmic approach, her spellbinding visual identity, and her high-pitched voice.
Her songs unfold like patchwork quilts of Togolese, Québécois, and Haitian cultures woven into her personal and artistic DNA.
Irdens Exantus
His face may already be familiar, and for good reason: Irdens Exantus has built an impressive career as an actor, both on television and on stage. When he steps into the spotlight as himself, without the mask of a character, Irdens moves between rap and R&B vocals.
The title track of his EP “Les Journées longues”, a duet with Raccoon, even takes on a spiritual dimension rooted in his religious background – which he openly embraces – and his affinity for gospel music.
Luan Larobina
A native of Gaspé, Luan Larobina songs are like musical postcards. Her verses and choruses pay tribute to the landscapes of her region, even going so far as to weave the sound of waves into the final mix.
While her vocal tone may evoke Klô Pelgag, her sonic world is rooted elsewhere—in a no-frills, almost stripped-down folk that will no doubt resonate with many Québécois listeners.
