DVTR
The 2024 edition of the Gala Alternatif de la Musique Indépendante du Québec (GAMIQ) took place in person and online on Dec. 1, 2024, at Montréal’s Foufounes électriques. A total of 38 Lucien awards were handed out during the event. The trophy is named in honour of the late Lucien Francoeur, the legendary frontman of the band Aut’Chose, whose latest lineup paid tribute to him, accompanied by singers Johnny Maldoror (Les Breastfeeders), Charles Laplante (Chou), and Rox Arcand (Enfants sauvages).
P’tit Belliveau won the prestigious Artist of the Year Award, as well as Album of the Year from outside Québec. Punk duo DVTR also stood out, winning three trophies: Breakthrough Artist of the Year; EP or Album of the Year, for Bonjour; and Animated Music Video of the Year. Population II, Alex Burger. and Calamine won two trophies apiece. The event also paid tribute to Montréal’s legendary duo Déja Voodoo, whose drummer, Tony Dewald, passed away earlier this year.
