SOCAN’s Membership team is pleased and proud to welcome Mike Rocha as Director, Film & TV, a newly-created role, reporting directly to Jean-Christian Céré, Chief Membership Officer.
This new position marks a significant step forward. It reflects our commitment to better serve an essential segment of our membership: composers and publishers working in film, television, and digital platforms. “Over the past few years, we’ve listened closely,” said Céré, addressing those composers and publishers. “We understand what’s not working. Now is the time to move from listening to delivering meaningful results, clear answers, concrete follow-ups, and a sense of progress.”
Rocha is both a creator and an entrepreneur. As a composer, music supervisor, producer, and recording studio owner, he has more than 20 years of experience in the Toronto music, film, TV, and advertising industries. He knows the creative challenges first-hand, but also how to navigate structures, prioritize action, and get things done.
His goals are to identify root issues, drive solutions, and make things better for our members. He’ll work closely with internal teams and industry partners to face recognized challenges with meaningful and lasting improvements.
Rocha has a strong understanding of French, having completed an immersion program, and is committed to strengthening his spoken fluency. He’ll collaborate closely with our Québec team and French-speaking colleagues to ensure effective and inclusive communication with all members. Rocha’s first day at SOCAN is May 5th.
“We’re very proud of this appointment,” says Céré. “Mike joins our team with the experience and determination needed to make a real difference. We wish him great success in this new role, and we’re confident that through his work, he’ll have a meaningful and positive impact on our day-to-day experience with SOCAN members.”
