Since its launch in February 2025, MUSIQC.CA, the free listening platform dedicated to showcasing Francophone music, has had a productive first year. Not only has the public embraced its promise of a human, intuitive, and artist-centric editorial experience focused on Francophone music, but the industry has also welcomed MUSIQC as a valuable response to the challenges faced by Francophone music — both at home and abroad — in a globalized market dominated by international English and multi-lingual content.

On Sept. 25, 2025, MUSIQC was recognized as the 2025 Musical Initiative of the Year” award at the Prix Rencontres, presented by ADISQ. This honour highlights the importance of promoting and showcasing homegrown Francophone music on digital streaming platforms.
“It’s a great honour to receive the Musical Initiative of the Year award at the Rencontres de l’ADISQ. Beyond recognizing the collective effort behind MUSIQC, this award underscores the relevance of our approach and gives real wind to our sails, both for our partners and for the entire team working tirelessly to make MUSIQC a concrete solution for improving the discoverability of our music,” said Ariane Charbonneau, Executive Director of SPACQ-AE.
MUSIQC Hits the International Stage!
The team celebrated the launch of its French branch, MUSIQC.FR, on Oct. 15, 2025, at MaMa — a three-day event that brings the Pigalle and Montmartre districts of Paris to life with conferences, professional networking, and concerts open to the public. SOCAN Board Chair Marc Ouellette was also on hand to support the MUSIQC team in this important new chapter of its development.
“With MUSIQC.FR, we aim to build a true bridge between the various Francophone music scenes around the world. Thanks to its new conversational tool, unveiled at MaMA in Paris, music discovery becomes as natural as a conversation,” explained Clément Delacroix, Head of MUSIQC and Communications at SPACQ-AE.
Nomination at the MTL Tech Awards
The ADISQ recognition isn’t the only development that the MUSIQC team has reason to celebrate. For the second year in a row, the platform is also nominated for the Francophone Cultural Discoverability Award at the MTL Tech Awards. Presented as part of the International Digital Innovation Competition, this award recognizes an initiative that advances the discoverability of Francophone cultural content.
Such recognition would help position MUSIQC as a large-scale solution for promoting local content. The winner will be announced at the MTL Tech Awards during MTL Connect: Montreal Digital Week, taking place from Oct. 28 to 31, 2025.
Good luck, MUSIQC!
SOCAN is proud to support this initiative and congratulates the MUSIQC team on its accomplishments.
