SOCAN Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the SOCAN Foundation Music Creator Scholarship, a new initiative designed to support the next generation of Canadian music creators pursuing post-secondary studies in music production, composition, and songwriting.

The scholarship supports Canadian students who demonstrate creative promise, and are currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution. By providing financial assistance at a critical stage of their education, the program aims to help emerging music creators focus on developing their creative careers.

“Empowering the next generation to develop their creative skills is essential,” said Charlie Wall-Andrews, Executive Director of SOCAN Foundation. “That’s why this new scholarship program is so important. It will support emerging music creators by helping remove financial barriers to post-secondary education.”

Scholarships are awarded as one-time grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 and may be used to offset education-related expenses such as tuition, course materials, and other costs directly associated with post-secondary study.

Applicants must be Canadian citizens and currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution, with a specialization in music production, composition, or songwriting. As part of the application process, students must submit original musical works created within two years prior to the application deadline, as well as a letter of support from a faculty member.

Applications for the SOCAN Foundation Music Creator Scholarship are now open and will close on June 1st, 2026. To apply, and for more information, visit www.socanfoundation.ca/grants.

By investing in students at a formative stage of their creative and professional development, the SOCAN Foundation Music Creator Scholarship seeks to nurture emerging talent and contribute to a strong, sustainable future for Canada’s music ecosystem.
