The Kenekt Song Camp was hosted by Racquel Villagante, SOCAN Associate Director, Creative Executives, who’s based in L.A.; Houtan Hodania, SOCAN Creative Executive, based in Toronto; and David Giddings, is a longtime musician, songwriter, and founding member of the folk-rock band Airborne, based in Vancouver.

The camp showcased the remarkable talent of SOCAN members, and emphasized the power of music to unite artists from diverse backgrounds. As always, some participants will likely work together on future endeavors, which increases the impact of the event.

“Everyone’s passion fuelled the process, and together we brought our art to life” said Ashley Sienna. “Without a doubt, these were the most fulfilling and enjoyable sessions I’ve ever experienced.”

“It was great creating memories and lifelong friendships,” said John Concepcion. “You learn so much throwing yourself outside your comfort zone.”

“I’m beyond thrilled with the success of the song camp we hosted on Pender Island,” said Villagante. “The energy was electric, the connections felt like family, and the friendships formed will last a lifetime. Celebrating SOCAN’s 100th Anniversary made it even more special. The remote Gulf Islands gave everyone space to focus, create, and connect. I can’t wait to see where these songs and relationships go next!”
