SOCAN presented singer-songwriter Chad Kroeger with a No. 1 Song Award for writing his band Nickelback’s “San Quentin,” which scaled the peak of the Mediabase Canada Active Rock Chart on Oct. 3, 2022.
“San Quentin” is co-published by Kroeger’s own imprint, Anaesthetic Publishing, and the Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Company, a division of Warner Chappell Music Ltd.
SOCAN presented the award to Kroeger on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, before Nickelback’s “Get Rollin’” tour performance at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
The trophy was proffered by SOCAN’s Vancouver-based Coralie Hummel, Account Executive – Radio, Concerts & Publishing, and several SOCAN executives in the city to attend the SOCAN AGM a few days earlier: CEO Jennifer Brown; Director, Creative, Cameron Kennedy; and Racquel Villagante, Creative Executive, West Coast.
