SOCAN was pleased to present both a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award and a SOCAN Country Music Award to Steven Lee Olsen for “Make a Life, Not a Living.” SOCAN Creative Executive, Los Angeles and Nashville, Liam Russell presented both plaques to Olsen on Feb. 22, 2024, at a breakfast in Nashville.
The No. 1 Song Award is for “Make a Life, Not a Living” scaling the peak of the Nielsen Canada Country chart on July 5, 2021; the Country Music Award is for being one of the songs in that genre that achieved the greatest number of performances on domestic radio and on-demand audio streams in 2021.
“Make a Life, Not a Living” is co-written by Olsen, Brandon Day (BMI), and Cary Barlowe (SESAC), published by Warner Chappell Music Canada Ltd., and performed by Brett Kissel.
