Fourteen SOCAN members are nominated in the Best Original Score and Best Original Score – Documentary Film categories at the Gala Québec Cinéma 2025, for which the full list of nominees was unveiled on Oct. 7, 2025, once again underlining the vitality of the art of screen composition in Québec.
The 2025 nominees in the Best Original Score category are:
- Viviane Audet, Robin-Joël Cool, Alexis Martin, for La petite et le vieux — Publishers: Télé Métropole Inc TM, Éditions Parallaxes
- Amir Amiri, Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux, for Une langue universelle
- Philippe Brault, for Bergers — Publishers: Royale Montagne, Meloscope
- Philippe Brault, for Deux femmes en or — Publisher: Royale Montagne
- Pierre-Philippe Côté « Pilou », for Vous n’êtes pas seuls — Publisher: La Boite à Fanny Inc
- Christophe Lamarche-Ledoux, for Amour apocalypse
In the Best Original Score — Documentary category, the nominees are:
- Wilhelm Brandl, for Okurimono
- Marc Gravel, for La bataille de Saint-Léonard
- Martin Lizotte, for En attendant Casimir
- Benoit Pinette, Marc-André Landry (Demain Déluge), for Simon & Marianne
- Martin Roy, Luc Sicard, for Billy
Matthew Rankin’s Une langue universelle leads the field this year, with 17 nominations. Just behind, Anne Émond’s Amour apocalypse and Chloé Robichaud’s Deux femmes en or stand out with 15 nominations each. Bergers by Sophie Deraspe follows closely with 13 nominations, while Vil & Misérable by Jean-François Leblanc and Comme le feu by Philippe Lesage round out the field, with nine and eight nominations, respectively.
The Gala Québec Cinéma 2025, hosted by Phil Roy, will be broadcast live on Dec. 7, 2025, on Noovo and noovo.ca. The screen composer awards will be announced at the Gala Artisans on Dec. 4, 2025, hosted by Alexandre Aussant, aka drag queen Mona de Grenoble.
