Québec Cinéma announced the list of nominees for its 2024 Iris Awards Gala on Oct. 8, 2024. SOCAN screen composers were among the finalists in the Best Original Score and Best Original Score/Documentary Film categories.

The 2024 nominees for Best Original Score are:

  • Viviane Audet, Robin-Joël Cool and Alexis Martin for Dis-moi pourquoi ces choses sont si belles
  • Daniel Bélanger for Nos belles-sœurs
  • Michel Corriveau for Ru
  • Pierre-Philippe Côté for Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant
  • Charles Lavoie for Solo

The nominees for Best Original Score – Documentary are:

  • Mimi Allard for La garde blanche
  • Pierre-Philippe Côté for Les jours
  • Liana El Amraoui and Jacob Desjardins for Éviction
  • Jérôme Minière for Le huitième étage, jours de révolte
  • Lakou Mizik and Joseph Ray for Kite Zo A [Laisse les os]

Ariane Louis-Seize’s film Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant is the most nominated movie, with a total of 22 nods. Other films dominating the nominations include Monia Chokri’s Simple comme Sylvain with 14 of them, Ricardo Trogi’s 1995 with 11, followed by the feature films Richelieu by Pier-Philippe Chevigny and Solo by Sophie Dupuis, with 10 apiece.

The 2024 Québec Cinéma Gala will be hosted by comedian Phil Roy, and broadcast live on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, on Noovo and noovo.ca. The Gala Artisans, where the music awards will be presented, will be held Dec. 4, at Montréal’s Grandé Studios, and will be hosted by drag queen Mona de Grenoble.
