Submissions have been extended, so screen composers can still apply now for the 2023 Canadian Screen Music Awards (CASMAs). Composers will have until Friday July 7, 2023, to nominate their work for consideration in this second annual edition.

The CASMAs are open to all Canadian and permanent resident composers, and the event organizers are excited to introduce several new categories for 2023, as follows:

  • Best Original Score for a Narrative Feature Film
  • Best Original Score for a Documentary Feature Film
  • Best Original Score for a Short Film

  • Best Original Score, Dramatic Series
  • Best Original Score, Documentary & Factual Series
  • Best Original Score, Comedy Series
  • Best Original Score, Animated Series
  • Best Original Score, Lifestyle & Reality Series
  • Best Original Score, Television Movie or Special

  • Best Original Score, Games & Interactive Media

  • Best Original Main Title Theme Music
  • Best Original Song

Non-Members of the presenting organization, the Screen Composers Guild of Canada (SCGC), can make submissions for $60 each, but for SCGC members the fee is $35. So, if you’d care to submit your work for a CASMA, this is an opportune time to become a member of the SCGC.
