  • Robin-Joël Cool has just won his second Gémeaux award in two years, for his role in the TV series Temps de chien, and his band Mentana (completed by Viviane Audet, Yannick Parent, and Erik West-Millette) has just released its new album Les Frolics (already No. 1 in French-language album sales on iTunes). So the time is right to enjoy the first single, “Temps de chien (vent d'boutte).” The song, born as a variation on the theme of the Radio-Canada series, in which Cool plays Stéphane, is a powerful musical piece carried by the collective spirit of the band. Recorded live at the Vieux Treuil at Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Québec, the session gathered 19 musicians from the Magdalen Islands, New Brunswick, the Gaspé, Prince Edward Island, and Louisiana. True to the spirit of an Acadian “frolic,” a community work party that ends with a big celebration, Mentana transformed a theatre into a studio for seven days of intensive recording. The energy of tgrhe resukting recording is highly contagious.
