      Somaya’s flow state on ‘LAYALI’

      Somaya was going through it during the COVID-19 pandemic. (Who among us wasn’t?) The Gatineau-born singer and songwriter had decided to move to Montréal in 2021 to pursue a creative life.       Don Amero has earned a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award for his track “Spare Change,” written in collaboration with Douglas Romanow, for reaching the top of the Indigenous Music Countdown on Feb. 9th, 2026. The award was presented to Amero and Romanow by SOCAN’s Houtan Hodania.    SOCAN congratulates the songwriters on this great achievement!
