The ever-flamboyant Hubert Lenoir was nominated in three categories at the 2019 JUNO Awards Francophone Album, Pop Album, and Album of the Year. He went home empty-handed, but still made heads turn. Whether it was his explosive performance during the Saturday night gala, his startling appearance on the red carpet, or his introduction of a performance by Cœur de pirate and Loud during the Sunday night broadcast gala, Lenoir left no head unturned, as he’s wont to do. We caught up with him on the red carpet to ask a few questions about his original make-up, his music, and his many musical travels over the last few weeks, including to France, Tokyo, and Austin, Texas, where he performed in front of an American audience for the very first time, at SXSW.

In a brief red carpet chat with SOCAN, 2019 JUNO double winners (for both Group and Rock Album of the Year [Rally Cry]) Arkells talk about their songwriting process, “going for it,” how they connect with audiences, and what’s up for the rest of 2019.
