Year after year, the Association des professionnels de l’édition musicale (APEM) offers a wide range of training courses, starting with its music publishing training program. This program (offered in French) covers the main types of expertise required in music publishing. APEM has been offering training on the legal foundations and business practices of music publishing since 2005 in order to develop a skilled workforce and promote best practices. This comprehensive 44.5-hour course is spread over 10 weeks and covers topics such as legal foundations, sources of revenue and rights management, contracts and licenses, organization and artistic direction of a publishing house, negotiating a publishing contract, and many other essential aspects of the trade. Those topics will be covered in-depth by publishing experts such as Daniel Lafrance, Claude Brunet, Sébastien Charest, Xavier Debreuille, Valérie Gauthier, Marie-Laurence Asselin et Carmel Scurti-Belley.

Please note that the APEM training program will take place in person, from September 11 to November 13, at the Institut national de l’image et du son (INIS). Registration is now open and places are limited. For all the details and to register, visit apem.ca/en/music-publishing-training-program-2.
