After three weeks of hotly contested semi-finals, the three finalists of the 2022 edition of the Francouvertes have been chosen: Rau Ze, Émile Bourgault, and Hôte. The result was decided by a jury of music industry professionals and members of the public, both in person, and online via a broadcasting platform specially designed for the occasion.

During the last evening of the competition semi-finals, several prizes were awarded, including SOCAN’s Paroles & Musique Award to the group Rau Ze for the quality of its lyrics and music. Members of the band won a $1,000 cash prize and a writing residency at the SOCAN House in Los Angeles or Nashville.

The SOCAN Foundation offered semi-finalist David Lagacé a $1,500 grant to create the theme song for the 2023 edition of the Francouvertes. The “J’aime mes ex” series also concluded with Alex Burger, finalist of the 23rd edition of Francouvertes, who opened the last night of the semi-finals at Montréal’s Lion d’Or club. SOCAN is proud to have made this series possible, allowing audiences to re-connect with the musical universe of past participants throughout the preliminary and semi-final rounds: Thierry Larose, Fanny Bloom, Valence, Émilie Proulx, FUUDGE (in duo mode), Chloé Lacasse, Gab Bouchard, Mathieu Bérubé, and Alex Burger.

The grand finale of the 2022 edition will be held in front of a live audience on May 16, at 7:30 p.m., at Club Soda. Audiences at home will also be able to view and vote live via the streaming platform at thepointofsale.com.

Good luck to the finalists of this 26th edition of the Francouvertes!
