Lord Quest, SOCAN’s Creative Executive, Black Music, presented two No. 1 Song awards to LU KALA: one for “Nothing But Love,” that scaled the peak of the CBC Music Top 20 Countdown Chart on Feb. 29, 2024; the other for “Hotter Now,” which topped the same chart on Nov 30, 2023. “Nothing But Love,” was co-written by LU KALA, Elizabeth “Lowell” Boland, Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, Jonas Jeberg, and Hrag Sanbalian. “Hotter Now” was co-written by LU KALA, Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, Boy Matthews, Marc Sibley, and Nathan Cunningham, and published by Warner Chappell Music Publishing and Kobalt Music Publishing.

Lord Quest also presented a No. 1 Song Award to Allison Russell, to celebrate “Demons” reaching the zenith of the CBC Music Top 20 Countdown Chart on Feb. 1, 2024. Russell co-wrote “Demons” with Drew Lindsay and JT Nero, and the song is published by Concord Music Publishing.

Cameron Kennedy, SOCAN’s Director, Creative, bestowed a No. 1 Song Award upon Josh Ross, for “Trouble” attaining the top of the Mediabase Canada Country Chart on Sept. 11, 2023. Ross co-wrote the song with Mason Thornley, and it’s published by the Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Company.

Tanya Van Luven, SOCAN’s Director, Publisher Relations, handed out a No. 1 Song Award to five representatives of Anthem Entertainment, for publishing “Together Right,” by Finger Eleven, which topped the Mediabase Canada Active Rock chart for six weeks straight, starting on July 30, 2023. The Anthem representatives celebrated at the event were Ryan Cain, Andy Curran, Giles Godard, Scott Steele, and Andy Hawke. “Together Right” is co-written by Finger Eleven members Scott Anderson, Sean Anderson, Rick Jackett, James Black, and Stephen Molella, previously honoured by SOCAN for it.
