To mark the 30th anniversary of Bourse RIDEAU (Réseau indépendant des diffuseurs d’événements artistiques unis), SOCAN presented a captivating songwriters’ circle that featured SOCAN members Luc De Larochelière, Ingrid St-Pierre, Ian Kelly and Elisapie on the magnificent stage of Québec City’s Capitole Theatre. The focus of the 2017 RIDEAU was on the stakes of the digital age.

The four songwriters captivated the audience with several songs each, while sharing anecdotes about them, and opening up about their relationship with songwriting. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie, and the chemistry that bonded all four as songwriters was palpable.

Paroles & Musique Editor Eric Parazelli, met with them right after the event to ask about their experience of the circle. You can see that, and a few excerpts from the circle, in the video.

Several awards were given out during Soirée des Prix RIDEAU, on top of the events programmed for the Forum de la Bourse RIDEAU, and the many showcases intended to help bookers build their programs. Among the awards given out (the complete list of which is on the RIDEAU website), the SOCAN Jury Prize was awarded to Alexandre Désilets for his outstanding showcase presented on Feb. 13 at Palais Montcalm. The award includes a spot during the SOCAN showcase presented during the Rendez-vous pros des Francos event in Montréal in June 2017.
