Since 2005, the Association des professionnels de l’édition musicale (APEM) has offered a training program for aspiring music publishers, aiming to promote best practices in music publishing, and covering the main types of expertise required in the field. APEM offers training in the legal foundations and business procedures of music publishing, in order to develop a skilled workforce. This comprehensive, 43-hour course runs for 11 weeks, from Jan. 16 to Mar. 19, 2024, and covers legal basics, contracts and licenses, the organization and artistic direction of a publishing house, and many other essential subjects. These subjects will be covered in-depth by publishing experts such as Daniel Lafrance, Claude Brunet, David Murphy, Valérie Gauthier, Marie-Laurence Asselin, and Carmel Scurti-Belley.

Note that the winter session of the APEM training program will be available online only, via Zoom. Registration is now open, but spaces are limited. For details, and to register, access apem.ca/en/music-publishing-training-program-2.

The APEM training program is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Québec government, Musicaction, the SOCAN Foundation, and SODEC.
