In 2020, talented SOCAN member Dominique Fils-Aimé won the Vocal Jazz Album of the Year JUNO Award for her album for Stay Tuned! She’s now won it for a second time, in Halifax, during the 2024 JUNOs – thanks to her magnificent album Our Roots Run Deep. We interviewed her the day after her participation in the JUNO Songwriters Circle, presented by SOCAN – where she shared the stage with Begonia, Jeremy Dutcher and Katie Tupper, just before the JUNOs Opening Night Awards, in which her category of honour was presented. Fils-Aimé talked to us about the healing power of her music, the trilogy concept that guides the creation of her albums, her highly fertile creativity, and her social role as an artist.
