Video: 2023 ADISQ Gala Interviews, Part Two

Welcome to the second part of the numerous interviews we conducted backstage at the 2023 ADISQ Gala and Premier Gala.

 

Pierre Kwenders’ album José Louis and the Paradox of Love won the prestigious Polaris Music Prize in 2022. This obviously paved the way for his victory at the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ in the Album of the Year – World Music category. But for Kwenders, this double achievement acts more as a creative stimulus than a reason to believe that he can now rest. Here’s our on-the-spot interview at the Premier Gala.

 

For Clay & Friends, the stage is their lifeblood, the place where their music comes alive, and touches their growing fan base right in the heart. It’s no wonder that they’ve won the Félix Award in the Show of the Year – Multilingual/Other Languages category at the Premier Gala. Following is our interview with the emotional and gratitude-filled band right after the gala.

 

For his show Le tour du bloc, Michel Rivard invited 11 musicians onstage with him to celebrate the 50^th Anniversary of his career in style. The happy winner of the Show of the Year Félix Award spoke with us about his universally acclaimed show.

Originally from Maliotenam, in Northeastern Québec, singer-songwriter Shauit fuses music and languages, but sings mostly in Innu. Winner of the Album of the Year – Indigenous Languages Félix for Natukun, he strives towards reconciliation by blending Québec and Indigenous cultures. We had a chat with him backstage at the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ.
