No one loves Toronto like Drake loves Toronto. Also, no one wants to settle the score with a foe like Drake does. For better or worse, Aubrey Graham’s fights make for some of his best songs. On “National Treasures,” from Iceman — Drake’s first of three album drops in one night — the rapper takes aim at those who picked Kendrick Lamar’s side when their feud blew-up in 2024, including former Toronto Raptor, DeMar DeRozan.
The moody track is less of an indictment on a soured friendship with DeRozan —a Los Angeles native like Lamar — and more a fierce claim that if anyone is going to be a national treasure in these parts, it’s going to be Aubrey Graham. Maybe he’s closely followed by the player who did manage to get the city an NBA championship, but still, this is Drake’s town, and everyone better remember that.
